Two-Day Beginner Hairstyling Masterclass

The Two-Day Beginner Hairstyling Masterclass has been carefully designed by Drew from Sydney Hair & Makeup Co for those who would like to begin or further develop their skills in professional hairstyling.

Strong foundations are an important part of becoming a confident hairstylist. Learning how to properly prepare, plan and work with the hair early in your hairstyling career will help you create cleaner work, improve your techniques and continue developing your skills throughout your career.

Over two intensive days, students will learn essential hairstyling foundations, professional techniques and a range of complete hairstyles. Drew will share the methods, tips and tricks she has developed throughout more than 20 years in the hairstyling industry, with a focus on helping students understand not only how to create a hairstyle, but also how to plan and approach the hair before they begin.

The workshop is fast-paced, practical and hands-on, with step-by-step demonstrations, guidance and individual attention throughout the two days. Students will have the opportunity to practise the techniques and hairstyles taught during the workshop while receiving feedback and assistance from Drew.

The class atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming while still being focused and productive. Students are encouraged to ask questions throughout the workshop - no question is a wrong question.

The aim of this masterclass is for students to walk away with greater confidence, stronger foundations and a wider understanding of professional hairstyling. In addition to learning complete hairstyles, students will gain knowledge about hair preparation, products, tools, techniques and the professional tips and tricks that can help improve the quality and efficiency of their work.

Hairstyling Kit

About Your Trainer

Drew from Sydney Hair & Makeup Co is a professional hairstylist with more than 20 years of industry experience and specialises in hairstyling.

Throughout her career, Drew has styled hair for countless weddings and special occasions and has worked across film sets, fashion shows and photoshoots. With extensive professional experience, a strong eye for detail and training undertaken throughout Australia, Drew brings her own techniques, methods and industry knowledge into the classroom.

Throughout the masterclass, Drew will share the techniques, tips, tricks and professional knowledge she has developed over more than two decades in the hairstyling industry.

STUDENT CHECKLIST:

What Students Need to Bring:

1. Mannequin Head
A human-hair mannequin head with medium to long hair is required. Short-haired mannequins are not suitable, as the hair length will limit the hairstyles you are able to create during the masterclass. All mannequin heads must be washed and blow-dried straight before the masterclass, with no products applied. Students will also need a mannequin head holder. A freestanding mannequin stand is preferable.

2. Hair Straightener
Students are required to bring a hair straightener. Students who have purchased the masterclass can purchase a Sydney Hair & Makeup Co hair straightener at a special student price. Contact us directly at sydneyhairandmakeupco@outlook.com and include your order number in the email to receive the student price.

3. Hair Dryer: A professional hair dryer between 1900 and 2200 watts.

4. Curling Tongs: A curling iron with a clamp that holds the hair in place while curling. Recommended barrel size: approximately 25 mm/1 inch.

5. Curling Wand: A curling tool without a clamp, where the hair is wrapped around the barrel by hand. Recommended barrel size: approximately 25mm/1 inch.

Existing Hairstyling Kit: If you already have a hairstyling kit, you are welcome to bring it with you. Students will be provided with the other necessary hairstyling tools and products in their goodie bag, excluding the hot tools listed above.

WHAT STUDENTS RECEIVE: 

1. Hairstyling Goody Bag: All students will receive a take-home goodie bag containing hairstyling products and items needed throughout the masterclass, including products and tools Drew personally uses in her professional hairstyling kit.
2. Certificate of Completion: All students will receive a Sydney Hair & Makeup Co Beginner Hairstyling Masterclass Certificate of Completion.
3. Giveaways & Sponsors: Students attending the masterclass will have the opportunity to win prizes throughout the two days.
